Joe Jasgur’s Marilyn Photos Sold for $352,000

Photos of 19 year-old Norma Jeane Dougherty, taken by Joseph Jasgur, have been sold at the Icons and Idols event at Julien’s Auctions for a total $352,000, reports BBC News. Profits will be used to pay off debts incurred by Mr Jasgur’s estate.

Other big sellers included the pink raw silk ensemble designed by JAX for Marilyn’s role in The Seven Year Itch – Sold for $83,200

An 8-page, handwritten letter from Norma Jeane to her legal guardian Grace Goddard dated June 4, 1945, in which she mentions leaving her factory job to pursue a modelling career after being ‘discovered’ by US Army photographer David Conover.  – Sold for $37,500

An early photo signed by Marilyn to Phil Hooper, her neighbour at El Palacio Apartments in West Hollywood circa 1947-48. The inscription reads ‘To Phil, Best Wishes Always Sincerely Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jeane).’ – Sold for $28,800

A contract amendment between Marilyn and 20th Century Fox dated February 10, 1947, extending her contract by 6 months, signed ‘Marilyn Monroe/Norma Jeane Dougherty.’ – Sold for $15,360
